Trail Overview:
Step back in time. Explore the 12 km historic trail winding through the Reserve. The Reserve is located next to Red Cliff Lodge.
Delve into the past with remnants of tobacco farming. This includes an underground store. It also features an old farmhouse with a traditional bread oven.
Natural Splendor:
The Marico River begins its journey here. It meanders across the Kaaloog Loop, Rietspruit, Bokkraal Loop, and Rhebokfontein Loop.
Experience the untouched beauty of the river. It is graded as A/B ecological class. This grading makes it one of the purest water sources in the country. There is time to relax next to the river to picnic as well as take a dip in one of the many refreshing river pools
Historical Significance:
Follow in the footsteps of early traders crossing old wagon trails that connected Marico and Lichtenburg. Marvel at geological formations like “the Cathedral”. This location is a nesting site for Verreaux’s Eagles. Explore “the Preachers Chamber” and Aloe Cliff.
Discover an overhang cave. It is one of many in the area. Nomadic Boer women and children hid here from the English soldiers during the Anglo Boer War.
